Abdominal ultrasound shows a structure and function of liver, pancreas, gallbladder, bile duct and spleen.
Changes in liver structure don`t usually cause pain until it is enlarged. Liver ultrasound can show the earliest stages of hepatosis. At that stage it can still be reversed with diet and lifestyle interventions. It also detects the capability of the vessels of the liver and any lesions.
Pancreas ultrasound can show the signs of acute or chronic pancreatitis. The symptoms of those are upper stomachache and diarrhea.
Gallbladder ultrasound can show the presence of inflammation and/or stones. It can also provide information of the need for surgical removal of the bladder. Cholecystitis and gallbladder stones may not show any symptoms or upper right stomachache.
Bile duct inflammation can vary from light disturbances to a life-threatening condition, that presents with stomachache and fever.
Spleen enlargement can be a symptom of several blood diseases.
So, as you see, abdominal cavity ultrasound can give a lot of information about your health. The results of the ultrasound should only be interpreted by a specialist, please avoid self-diagnosis.
