Dermatoscopy is a method used to take a closer look at the moles. It is a completely painless test that can detect any lesions suspicious for melanoma. It is performed with a device called a dermatoscope. It is non-invasive and painless. There are no risks or contraindications for this procedure. It is very safe and can be used for all skin types and all ages. If possible skin cancer is suspected, a dermatologist will do a biopsy, which is the removal of a small sample of skin for microscopic examination. Another option is a removal with a following histology test – it will tell exact information about the type of the removed lesion.
