Pap smear

Pap smear is a procedure performed during a pelvic exam. The process is painless and completely safe. Pap smear is a part of yearly prophylaxis gynecologic exam and should be performed on a regular occasion.

During a procedure, a small brush gently removes some cells from the cervix surface. Then, those cells are examined under a microscope for any atypicity, that can be a sign of a cancer or pre-cancerous state. Also, it can show signs of inflammation. It can be performed simultaneously with human papillomavirus testing.
