Pharyngitis

Pharyngitis is the inflammation of the mucous membranes and lymphoid tissue of the pharynx. The main cause of pharyngitis is the inhalation of cold or dirty air or the action of chemical irritants (alcohol, tobacco). Infectious pharyngitis can be provoked by different microbes (streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci) as well as viruses (influenza viruses, adenoviruses) and fungi (candida).

Often, pharyngitis develops as a result of the spread of an infection from any inflammation site located in the pharynx. Acute and chronic pharyngitis can be differentiated. Acute pharyngitis occurs after the direct influence of pharyngeal aggressive factors (infections, irritating gas etc.) on the mucous membrane of the pharynx. The course of acute pharyngitis is favorable.

Chronic pharyngitis could be as a result of improperly treated acute pharyngitis as well as an independent disease which develops due to prolonged irritation of the mucous membrane of the pharynx. In the development of chronic pharyngitis, exacerbation and remission phases are observed.

In our clinic, red lasers are used for the treatment of pharyngitis. By means of a direct optical fiber, the back wall of the pharynx is ablated. The patient remains in a sitting position for the procedure to be carried out. Laser therapy is carried out after solutions of Lugol, Furaccilin etc. have been applied to the pharynx. A combination of laser therapy with medications significantly improves the quality of treatment.

In our clinic, patients can always be consulted by an ENT-specialist (otorhinolaryngologist) as well as undergo laboratory investigations.

Treatment method is chosen after a consultation with a specialist.
