Sinusitis and rhinosinusitis
Sinusitis is an inflammation of one or several nasal sinuses, which develops as a complication during acute common cold, influenza, measles, scarlet fever and other infectious diseases. Rhinosinusitis is an inflammation of the mucous membranes of the peri-nasal sinuses. According to their location, the following types of rhinosinusitis are differentiated: 1. Highmoritis (maxillary sinusitis), which is an inflammation of the upper maxillary sinuses. 2. Frontal sinusitis, which is an inflammation of the frontal sinuses. 3. Ethmoiditis, which is an inflammation of the sinuses of the ethmoidal bone. 4. Sphenoiditis, which is the inflammation of the sinuses of the sphenoidal bone. Predisposing factors include congenital malformations of the anatomical structures of the nasal cavity, polyps in the air way as well as allergic rhinitis.
Laser therapy significantly helps in reducing the hospitalization period needed to treat sinusitis and rhinosinusitis. Treatment is done through the skin as well as through special nozzles directed to the affected area.
In our clinic, we have developed and are implementing effective treatment schemes of combined pharmacological and laser therapies.
Laser therapy is used in treating allergic rhinitis in combination with medications and physiotherapeutic methods.
